Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Lizzie Alchin Ready to Light Up the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide

Reds’ very own Lizzie Alchin is set to shine on home sand when the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships are played in Adelaide from 14–23 November 2025. Ninety-six teams from forty different countries will battle it out for the sport’s ultimate prize and one of Australia’s brightest young stars will be right in the mix.

At just 21, Alchin has had a breakout season on the sand in Australia, Asia, and beyond. Partnering with fellow Aussie Georgia Johnson (pictured right), she claimed bronze at the Coolangatta Futures in March and achieved a career-best fifth place at the Xiamen Challenge in May. The pair also impressed on the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour, reaching multiple finals and proving themselves among the country’s top pairings.

Alchin made her debut in the Beach Pro Tour Montreal Elite16 in August, where she ranked fifth overall for digs, recording 48 total saves at a 59% success rate, an outstanding achievement that placed her among the world’s best defenders.

With home-crowd support and a season of momentum behind her, Lizzie could not be more pumped to compete again on the global stage.

“A home World Champs is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we are so excited to be part of it. My partner and I  have worked hard all year to qualify our spot, and now we are ready to compete against the best teams in the world. I am so proud to represent Australia at this event as well as all the people that helped me get there, ” Alchin said.

Michael Ruggiero and Kenrick Armitage coached and mentored Lizzie as a junior athlete at Penrhos College and through the WAVL State League program at Reds Volleyball Club, and are looking forward to seeing her in full flight at the World Championships.

A reflection on Lizzie’s journey from Michael Ruggiero:

“Lizzie was a talented young volleyballer who was always striving to be the best version of herself, both on and off the court. From the beginning, she showed an incredible work ethic and a genuine love for the game. She was the type of athlete who never settled for ‘good enough’, always looking for ways to refine her skills, support her teammates, and push herself to new levels,” Ruggiero said.

“Her dedication to her craft was matched by her humility and her willingness to learn, making her a pleasure to coach and a role model for younger players. It’s been inspiring to watch her development over the years and to see that same drive and focus now taking her onto the world stage. Lizzie truly embodies what it means to combine talent, hard work, and character,” said Ruggiero.

A reflection on Lizzie’s journey from Kenrick Armitage:

“Even from her early days as a young athlete first starting out in volleyball, Lizzie was always determined to learn and get better. She consistently set ambitious goals, and her own high expectations and drive to achieve them is truly impressive to watch,” Armitage said.

“Lizzie was an outstanding role model for other athletes and remains the perfect example of what dedication, professionalism, and passion can achieve. To now see her competing on the sand in Adelaide at the highest level is an achievement we are incredibly proud to celebrate,”Armitage added.

From the sands of Perth to the world’s biggest stage – all eyes will be on Lizzie Alchin when the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships begin this Friday.
