Reds Volleyball Club and Luke Perry Volleyball Academy Head Coach, Cameron Edwards, has been appointed Head Coach of the Australian Volleyroos for the 2026 Oceania Zonal Volleyball Championships, to be held in Guam from 3–9 August.
Edwards joins current Reds State League Head Coach Jon Uriarte in leading the Australian senior men’s indoor team and becomes the first West Australian to take charge of the Volleyroo Men.

Edwards served as Head Coach of the Reds State League Men in 2024 and 2025 before pursuing professional coaching opportunities overseas. During the 2025–26 Volleyligaen season, he coached Danish club Ikast KFUM, guiding the team to bronze medals in both the Danish Cup and the Volleyligaen. His outstanding debut professional season saw him recognised as Danish Coach of the Year.
Edwards said he was honoured to lead Australia at senior level for the first time.
“Having been involved with the Volleyroos National Development Program (NDP) for many years & represented Australia at Youth & Junior level, to now get an opportunity to lead a senior Volleyroo Men’s team is a surreal privilege,” Edwards said.
Upon returning to Perth, Edwards rejoined the Reds WAVL program, serving as Head Coach of the Division 1 Men and as State League Men Assistant Coach under Jon Uriarte, the Australian Olympic Head Coach for the 2004 Athens and 2012 London Games and 1988 Seoul Olympic Bronze Medalist for Argentina.
Edwards has built one of Western Australia’s most distinguished coaching resumes. From coaching Australian stars Luke Perry, Luke Smith and Sam Walker during his time at Aquinas College, to more than 20 years of coaching Western Australian junior state teams, he has played a significant role in developing some of the state’s finest volleyball talent.
In 2024, Edwards guided the WA Under-17 Boys to the national championship, securing Western Australia’s first gold medal on the male side at the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships in more than a decade.

Uriarte congratulated Edwards on his appointment and spoke of the honour of representing Australia on the international stage.
“Cameron thoroughly deserves this opportunity. He has built his career with a commitment to continuous improvement, investing in both his theoretical education and practical experiences across the competitive pathway,” Uriarte said.
Reds Volleyball Club President Anthony Meo also congratulated Edwards on his appointment.
“Cam’s appointment is a well-deserved milestone in his coaching journey. We congratulate Cameron on this incredible honour to lead the Volleyroos and thank him for his continued service to our Club and Academy,” Meo said.
“To have a second senior Australian national team coach involved in our WAVL program is an incredible asset for our athletes and community. We couldn’t be more excited for Cam and wish him and the Volleyroos every success in Guam. Everyone at Reds will be cheering them on from afar,” Meo added.

Following the Oceania Championships, Edwards will depart for Europe after signing with Swedish club Lunds VK for the 2026–27 Elitserien season. The Australian Volleyroos begin their Oceania Zonal Volleyball Championships campaign on Monday 3 August.
