Edwards and Linton to spearhead 2024 State League campaign

Reds Volleyball Club has confirmed its coaching line-up for the 2024 Western Australian Volleyball League (WAVL) State League season with Cameron Edwards and Rachel Trent to spearhead the men’s program, while Jordan Linton and Michelle (Mic Mic) Laborte will lead the women’s campaign.

Cameron Edwards, who is a previous WA Hornets coach in the Australian Volleyball League, has coached in the National Junior Development Program since 2003 and is looking forward to getting down to business with the men’s squad.

“Reds have seen great growth and development over the past few years and are starting to reap the rewards of that development. It is now an exciting time to take the passionate player group to the next level and showcase their talents as athletes in volleyball,” Edwards said.

“The game is getting faster and more intense for longer. I am excited and determined to continue the building performance within our squad and across the entire program to strive for that ultimate prize at the end,” Edwards added.

Rachel Trent returns to Reds as the Associate Head Coach for her second season in the men’s State League program and is excited to build upon last year’s performance with the group.

“I can’t wait to get on court with our group for 2024 and build on the great work from last season. There are exciting times ahead for our men’s program and our Club and I can’t wait to be a part of building an incredible future at Reds,” Trent said.

Cameron Edwards and Rachel Trent will lead the Reds State League Men in the 2024 WAVL season.

On the women’s side, Jordan Linton is no stranger to Reds having been previously involved with the Club’s 2018-2020 preseason programs, current Head Coach of the Reds Beach program and is now excited to move into the Head Coach role.

“Past coaches have done such an amazing job to formulate a core group of players. I’m looking forward to continuing that trajectory, taking the next step to making this team an undeniable and consistent factor in the league,” Linton said.

“I can’t wait to get back on court to work along the high-calibre coaching staff and players to strengthen our brand of volleyball determined by common goals and expectations to help us reach our desired destination together,” Linton added.

Linton is joined in the women’s program by ex-Phillipine national indoor and beach representative Michelle (Mic Mic) Laborte who is relocating to Perth from Manila for the 2024 season. Mic Mic is pumped to have landed in Perth with Reds.

“The opportunity to join Reds is something I am grateful for. Sharing my passion for volleyball is something I am eager to do, to share my knowledge and experiences about volleyball and life with our players. I am proud to be a Filipino in this Association,” Mic Mic said.

Jordan Linton and Michelle Laborte will lead the Reds State League Women in the 2024 WAVL season.

Reds Volleyball Club President Anthony Meo was thrilled to welcome the coaches to Reds.

“We have a highly talented field of coaches who will be leading our State League program in 2024 and we are incredibly fortunate to have a wealth of diversity and experience as part of our program,” Meo said.

“Our coaches bring their learnings and experiences from national and state team environments in Australia and overseas and this will provide significant benefit to our teams,” Meo added.

Details regarding the commencement of the State League and Divisions program will be announced in the coming weeks. To join Cameron, Jordan, Rachel and Mic Mic as a coach at Reds, submit an application to coach in our WAVL program via the link below.
