Reds Volleyball Club is excited to announce Greg Hunt and Jason Laverdure as the State League Head Coaches for the Club’s 2023 Western Australian Volleyball League campaign. Laverdure returns to coach the State League Men, while Hunt joins the women’s State League side having spent the previous three seasons as Head Coach of the Reds State League Reserves Women.

Hunt’s time at the helm of the Reserves Women included two championship victories in 2020 and 2022 and the new League Head Coach is ready to get down to business at League level.
“Having been involved with the women’s squad over the past three seasons I am excited about the opportunity to step into the Head Coach position and continue working with a strong women’s program,” Hunt said.
On the men’s side Laverdure returns for his second year in charge of the State League Men who will be looking to improve upon their 2022 campaign that also saw the team reach the Preliminary Final.
“We have a young and hungry team that surprised many with their performance on the court last season and we are building for a big year on the court in 2023,” Laverdure said.
Hunt and Laverdure will be joined by Victor Gabriel Goncalves and Samuel Hoskin who will spearhead the Reserves Men and Women in 2023. Goncalves returns for his fourth season in the role and is coming off an inaugural men’s State League Reserves championship in 2022, while Hoskin moves into the State League coaching ranks after helping the Division 1 Women to their first championship win for Reds last season.
The Reds State League coaching stocks have been further bolstered by the additions of Rachel Trent and Darren Beltman. Reds Volleyball Club President Anthony Meo was excited to welcome the pair to the Reds State League program.
“We are delighted to welcome our new State League coaches to Reds. Rachel and Darren bring a wealth of volleyball experience that will help strengthen our State League teams and we are thrilled to have them involved in our program,” Meo said.
“Our new additions will complement the great work of Jason, Victor, Greg and Sam and provide our teams with the best opportunity to develop and achieve success in 2023,” Meo added.
The WAVL State League season is due to begin on 14 April. State League Athlete EOIs and State League Reserves and Divisions Preseason and Trials registrations are now open via the links below.
