Western Australian Volleyball League

The Western Australian Volleyball League (WAVL) is the state’s premier indoor volleyball competition which is played from April to September. The WAVL competition is separated into different divisions being; State League, State League Reserves (the two most senior grades of indoor volleyball in WA) through to Division 1, Division 1 Reserves, Division 2, Division 3 and onwards. 

Trainings: The Reds and Reds Junior WAVL Program involves 1x or 2x 90-minute training sessions per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday night. Trainings are primarily held at Aquinas College and Penrhos College. 

Matches: WAVL State League is primarily played on Saturdays, with occasional Friday night and Sunday matches. WAVL Divisions matches are primarily played on Sundays, with occasional Friday night and Saturday matches. Matches are played at various venues including Aquinas College, Loftus Recreation Centre, Melville Leisure Centre and Cockburn ARC.  

2024 WAVL SEASON INFORMATION

MATCH FORMAT: State League & State League Reserves: Best of 5 set matches, untimed. Divisions: Best of 5 set matches, in a 2hr time-slot.
SEASON START: State League – Division 1 Reserves: Sunday 7 April 2024. Division 2+: Sunday 5 May 2024.
GRAND FINALS: State League: Saturday 27 July 2024. State League Reserves+: Sunday 8 September 2024.
SEASON LENGTH: State League: 15 matches + finals. State League Reserves+: 16/18 matches + finals. Division 1/D1 Reserves: 18 matches + finals. Division 2+: 16 matches + finals.
