2026 WAVL Update

The Perth Reds Volleyball Association (PRVA) is pleased to share information with members of the WA volleyball community about changes to the 2026 Western Australian Volleyball League (WAVL) following recent communications from Volleyball WA to all WAVL clubs.

The WAVL is WA’s premier indoor volleyball competition featuring teams from a variety of clubs in metropolitan Perth and in regional WA. The season runs from April to September, with competitive matches played on Saturdays and Sundays.

Some key changes to the 2026 WAVL include:

  • Renaming of WAVL grades from 2025 Division 2 Reserves and below (see chart below).
  • Mandatory libero per match for all State League and State League Reserves matches.
  • State League matches to be played exclusively on Saturdays.
  • Introduction of the new Double Touch rule.

Players registering to trial to play for Reds VC or Reds Junior in the 2026 WAVL are encouraged to understand the changes to the naming of relevant divisions, to ensure they register to trial for their desired grades.

The WAVL State League season will commence on Saturday 11 April, while all other grades from State League Reserves and below will commence on Sunday 12 April.

Trials for Reds and Reds Junior WAVL teams commence on 13 January 2026 and registrations are open via the link below.
